Namaste and a Happy New Year to you all. I hope that you are following the improvements in Sisodra through the pictures here on our website that is being run by Dilip JaguBhai.
The Badvavari Naar has been cleared and has started to be used by all types of vehicles. Some additional work will be needed in the near future after monitoring seepage from the irrigation canal (Nher).
On November 6th, we had Pooja and started clearing our two main roads. The electric poles have been moved. The main road contract was finalized in December and work was started on the 20th. So far the concrete has been poured along 200 feet and are going through inspections and quality checks before we proceed further. We have hired an engineer to help oversee the project. We have already generated a significant interest from our neighboring areas. There was even a visit from a Surat Nagarpalika official. Ana (Tundi) Gam has awarded their contract to our contractor.
Kali Bhoi Road (Godown to Ambheti) has been widened by about 6 feet along the Ambheti side and is awaiting government recognition for future tarmac.
Water Works Pipe Line will be laid along the main road and from there into the individual Falias. The road will be 20 feet wide from the School to Padar with four foot sidewalks on both sides of the road. The Mandir Road will be 17 feet. The water drainage will be under the sidewalks.
In a matter of weeks, we should be getting 24-hour electricity in our homes.
The following is an estimated cost of the project in rupees:
Cement Road Construction (School to Padar, Mandir Road)- 80 Lakhs
Pipe Line Plumbing and Falia Tarmac Repair- 45 Lakhs
SubodhBhai and JayeshBhai have been in India since October and are overseeing the project. JayeshBhai is on his way back to the US on the 2nd. I will be going to India around January 20th.
We hope to finish the work by May, but without your contributions this cannot be possible.
Thank-you and we wish you a healthy and successful 2006.
Namaste from the Sisodra Gam Committe
